Super Duper Tuesday Layover

Wednesday, February 6, 2008

(Boston, MA - 10.a.m. local time)
What a night? Blasting state after state against Hillary. Obama did it again. His momentum is gaining weight and everyone talks about him. I spent the night in the village with Obama campaigners and watched as the numbers came in on the CNN polls live and direct. Zach was there to bounce me between two bars where his coworkers celebrated victory. I feel this moment in history has come and young people have something worth fighting - not only hoping for.

Positioning myself inside the South Station to get a seat that has electricity and free wireless - ain't easy. I sit in a drafty hall and fight my tiredness. I took a night bus leaving NYC at 3.30 a.m. and had a couple of hours to rest on the bus. I have plenty of time before take off and will use to process my last pictures of this great moment in history. So without further ado, check out my journey through SUPER DUPER TUESDAY night in pictures and know that those moments mark history. The paradigm shift of hope, vision and change has come to be real.

One of the most memorable encounters I had was with Aisha. A fervent Hillary supporter and community organizer she switched sides over the last month. Responsible for the NY West Bronx Neighborhood Association, she told me how Obama inspired her. She felt with her heart and changed from her liaison with the Clintons over 15 years to a passionate Obama campaigner that had hundreds of leaflets in her handbag at 3 a.m. in the morning. Interestingly, she is Puerto Rican in origin but has converted to Islam and is part of the American Muslim Women's Movement to bring inter-religious dialogue to her neighborhood.

I feel like the character qualities and community expertise of all walks of people working for Obama, leaves me with the feeling of being inspired and hopeful that once again positive forces will shape American history in the future. The time has come and it is happening now. The world will be watching and I am grateful that I had the privilege and chance with the help of my countless friends to be part of this.

It was their generosity and spirit that is part of American life and character that made this film and its realization possible. It sounds like a liner note of a recording artist- but that's what I am. Recording hope, courage and change in 2008. Peace!
